A horse dies and then you go to the funeral home?
Well, the answer is: nothing.
But that is precisely what happened to a horse that was in a trailer at a Kansas horse farm, and the Kansas Department of Conservation and Natural Resources is now investigating.
The horse died Monday night at the Horse Farm, where it was being cared for by a veterinarian.
A family member told KCTV5 that the horse’s father was working at the farm, but he was not home when the accident happened.
The family’s dog was also on the property and could smell the horse.
They called 911 and the horse was transported to a veterinarian in Omaha.
The horse was euthanized Monday night.
The family said the horse had a severe neck injury.
“It’s very sad that something like that could happen to a family that’s been through so much, and we hope they recover,” said Bob Brown, the farm’s owner.
The Department of the Interior has been notified of the accident and is looking into the situation.
We don’t have any details, but we are investigating this situation.
