In a bid to prove its bona fides to the media, Newcastle’s new equestrians club, Meydans Equestrians Club, has unveiled its new look.
In a post on Instagram on Sunday, the club said it would have its new name changed to Meydam, with its logo changed to a pink ball with “Meydan” on it.
“We wanted to create something that represented what we stood for, what our club was all about,” said Meyden Piers, Meldan’s head of marketing and communications.
“Theres no other way to describe what we’re about and what we stand for.”
The club said the new name would be a tribute to its former owner, Sir James Meydon, who died in 2014.
“He had such an incredible impact on the club and our industry and his vision was a vision for the future of the sport and of our community,” Piers said.
“So it’s really fitting to change the name and we hope the fans will take it on board as well.”
The new name for Meydani Equestria Club will be unveiled on April 18.
The club is located at the Newcastle Cricket Ground, which will be renamed the Meydane Cricket Ground.
