The U.S. National Kennel Club’s board of directors is debating whether to remove a requirement that a pet owner register their dog’s breed from their dog license application.
The National Kennels Association has not yet made a decision, according to spokeswoman Stephanie Pomerantz.
It has also declined to provide a timeline for a decision.
The National Kennells association, founded in 1774, is the country’s oldest and largest breed-specific animal breeders’ organization.
Pomerantz said the association will decide on whether to keep the rule in place next month.
