The Chicago Bulls have been busy this off-season in an attempt to acquire a first round draft pick in order to bolster the team’s roster for the 2017 NBA Playoffs.
The Bulls drafted a pair of players from last year’s draft class that will likely be part of the future in the coming years.
Both of the Bulls first round picks from the 2016 draft class will be used to add some depth to the Bulls frontcourt.
In the second round, the Bulls will pick up the services of two players who could very well become the starting point guard for the Chicago Fire, the Portland Trail Blazers, or the Los Angeles Clippers.
First round pick, Malik Monk, will most likely be the starting backcourt for the Bulls for the next three seasons.
Monk was a second round pick of the Chicago Spurs in the 2016 NBA Draft, but the Bulls had the opportunity to select him with the 15th overall pick.
As of this writing, Monk is the best player on the Bulls roster and has been used as a starter for the team since the start of the season.
While the Bulls have not had a top scorer in the backcourt, Monk has a very good feel for how to play the game, and can create space and open up for others.
This type of versatility and defensive ability has been an issue for the club in recent years, and the Bulls were able to use their second round selection on Monk to add that depth to their frontcourt in the 2017 draft.
As a former member of the New York Knicks, Monk will most certainly get a look at the court with the Chicago team this season.
He has shown he can be an effective scorer at both ends of the floor, but he is also a decent defender, and a very capable shot blocker.
In addition, Monk brings a strong defensive presence in the paint, which will help to keep the opposing team off balance.
As much as it would be nice to see Monk be a full-time starter, he will most definitely be utilized as a reserve or wing player for the Fire, Blazers, and Clippers, respectively.
The Chicago Fire have also been linked to the Portland Thorns, but it is believed that the Bulls may be more interested in adding some depth on the wing this off season.
The Trail Blazers and Los Angeles Kings are also in the mix for the player that Monk could be traded for, but Monk has been linked more to a potential trade with the Blazers.
In a trade, the Chicago front office would most likely give up a player like Monk, or a draft pick for the Portland draft pick.
The draft pick that the Chicago is looking to acquire could be a second or third round pick.
One of the most interesting pieces that could be added to the team this off seasons is a center, and that is exactly what the Chicago has with the 20-year-old Malik Monk.
Monk is considered one of the best young center in the NBA, and is projected as a first or second round draft selection in the upcoming draft.
In order to get a top level center in order for the franchise to be successful in the future, the Fire and Blazers need to find a way to get Monk a deal in order that will be favorable to the Chicago organization.
The front office of the two clubs have been looking to add a center to the fold in the past, but none of the moves made by the Chicago side has been so far successful.
The team has been very reluctant to deal Monk for a first and second rounder, and will most probably wait for the right offer.
The addition of Monk will certainly be a big boost for the front office, and for the back court, but his ability to help the Bulls next season will also help them in the long run.
